The last day of August of every year is also World Blogging Day. For this occasion, here are some amazing facts about this event.
Fun Fact #1
Did you know that the word Blog is the combination of the two words – Web and a mysterious term “Log.” At its genesis, the word log was used to describe a large piece of raw wood. The log was thrown in water and sailors counted the time it turned on itself to estimate the ship’s speed. The word ‘Log’ then evolves to evoke the captain’s journal entries, known as logs.
Fun Fact #2
The date, August 31st, was chosen because of its shape – 3108 can be read as a blog. The concept of this day is to share and recommend our five favorite blogs. In my case, I couldn’t make a selection of 5 blogs, so I decided to share these 5 fun facts.
Fun Fact #3
The first blog in history called Links.net was created in 1994 by Justin Hall, a student at Swarthmore College. At the time, it’s wasn’t called a blog but simply “my personal homepage.”
Fun Fact #4
To date, there are more than 500 million blogs out of 1.7 billion websites in the world. Their authors account for over 2 million blog posts daily.
Fun Fact #5
In the last 5 years, the average time for writing a post has steadily grown from 2:24 hours to 3:28 hours. The blog post length for the same period rose from 808 to 1151 words on average.
With blogs, the possibilities are virtually unlimited, so don’t hesitate to get out there and share creative content. The key lies in your editorial choice and regularity.
So, let’s Vagabond!
